What We DoWorld Sight’s goal is to help prevent and reverse sight impairments of vulnerable populations globally.
Nearly 80% of all vision impairments, including complete blindness, are surgically correctable. Through World Sight’s cost-effective algorithm, it requires only 25 U.S. dollars per eye for physicians to perform vision-restoring surgeries. So far, World Sight physicians have operated in "Pop-Up" clinics in rural Ghana, Iraq, and Tanzania; in time, we hope to expand wherever help is needed. In addition, basic eye care is also provided to all eligible individuals at no charge, thereby addressing both surgically treatable pathologies, in addition to preventative medical care. |
