The World Sight Team
Dr. Ali Haider is an eye surgeon specializing in cornea, anterior segment and external disease. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville; Adjunct Assistant Professor at School of Global Health, Michigan State University, and Medical Director of the Kentucky Lions Eye Bank. Dr. Haider has also established successful eye projects in developing nations, hiring and managing local eye surgeon who perform service in keeping with the goal of World Sight.
Graham B. Cooke is one of the original developers of World Sight Inc. While spending twenty-five years of his working life as a co-owner of a small chain of large bookstores, Graham continued to have a hunger to improve the lives of those living in developing nations. His passion only increased as he spent several months working with Congolese refugees in Zambia. Graham, who recently observed the eye surgeon at work in northern Ghana and met with the head of an eye clinic in Madagascar, practiced law early in his career and was also the assistant director of a major library system after he and his partners successfully completed the sale of their bookstores in 2003.
Salimah Mohamed is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and World Sight’s Development Director. She is committed to World Sight’s mission and is particularly interested in global health policy in developing nations. She is currently based out of Atlanta, where she is a Health Communication Specialist at the Center for Disease Control (CDC). She ultimately plans on pursuing a career in medicine and would love to deepen and continue the work that World Sight does throughout her future endeavors and career.
Dr. Arwa Alsamarae is resident physician currently pursuing training in Ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital. She is passionate about patient-centered care and global health opportunities, particularly those that focus on creating positive change in a sustainable fashion. Prior to her involvement with World Sight, Dr. Alsamarae's first exposure to global health took place in Damascus, Syria where she worked on implementing a preventative medicine program for Iraqi refugees sponsored by the United Nations Refugee Agency.
Dr. Sura Hassan is a practicing optometrist at the Kresge Eye Institute, where she is the Director of Optometry. She finds sight to be the most cherished of all the fives senses and is driven to help restore sight to those who would otherwise be left in the dark. She has extensive experience with local non-profit organizations, where she continues to serve. Her leadership, passion, and organizational skills make her an extremely valuable resource to World Sight, thereby helping to serve the visually impaired globally.

Dick Wilson is a successful investment broker and influential philanthropist in the Louisville community and beyond. Wilson's extensive networking, communication, media and logic are a skill-set that makes him a great fit to make World Sight grow.
